Antique Japanese Meiji Large Porcelain Plate Charger Imari Arita Yamatoku Mark

Meiji (1868-1912) Period Japanese Hand Painted Arita Imari Charger, Signed & Impressed Mark for Yamatoku

Beautifully decorated in hand painted enamels, the four panels featuring different flowers on a white ground, over a green ground with pink blossom and gilding.

Bears a lightly impressed mark for Yamatoku (Mountain virtue).

Yamatoku is a Kiln in Saga Prefecture manufacturing Arita, Imari porcelain.

Named after Yamaguchi Tokuichithat, the kiln began production at the beginning of Meiji (1868-1912) period.

The Yamatoku mark is in 'katagana' characters.

The charger also bears a five Character mark in red.
